Hard-working therapy pet Mya the Labradoodle has beaten the competition to be crowned ‘Best In Show’ at a local care home.
The 11-year-old favourite was top dog at Milngavie Manor Care Home’s first-ever canine competition, defeating a pack of other pooches.
Residents at the home on Craigton Road turned into judges at the event, which saw local dogs compete in a range of categories.
But nobody could beat Mya to first prize as she stole hearts and the crown.
Wellbeing Coach Hazel Tagg said: “Congratulations to Mya – a wee superstar with a heart as big as her grin! It was a wonderful day and the residents just loved welcoming all the dogs. The joy they brought was out of this world.”
Pets including mini poodle Buddy, 3, King Charles spaniel Rolo, 1, and black labrador Elvis, 5, strutted their stuff.
Along with Cocker spaniel Dotty, Scottish Terriers Zoe and Sofia, and Miya’s sister, cockapoo Darcey, they competed in some fun-packed rounds.
Residents voted for ‘Most Handsome Boy’, ‘Prettiest Girl’, ‘Golden Oldie’ and ‘Waggiest Tail’, among others.
They also showed off their best party tricks as the besotted crowd cheered on the chaos.
Resident Mary Cameron said: "It's impossible not to smile when you're surrounded by wagging tails. I loved meeting all the dogs today - it's been so much fun.''
Happily, this won’t be the last time the residents will see winner Mya or her sister Darcey.
Hazel added: “We are so lucky that Mya is our therapet and visits every fortnight with her sister, bringing so much happiness to the home. We will give her the royal welcome when we see her next!”
