Care Home Dog Show Breeds New Friendship Between Kit And Honey

Care Home Dog Show Breeds New Friendship Between Kit And Honey

Centenarian Kit Collins provided the most heartwarming moment at her care home’s dog show when she met adorable Jack Russell, Honey.

The 102-year-old was thrilled when she was introduced to the gentle pooch at Abbots Wood Manor Care Home in Hailsham’s first-ever dog talent show.

Honey belongs to nurse Sarah Gray, who works at the care home on London Road, and was one of many dogs showcasing their tricks at the joyful event.

But the star moment came when she and Kit met and had their tender interaction captured on camera.

Kit said: “My goodness, Honey is a beautiful dog and I was so delighted to meet her.  It was a wonderful treat to have so many lovely animals at the home and to see them all showing off. I loved it.”

The team invited colleagues, relatives and visitors to bring in their dogs for the show.

Residents were delighted to watch the owners and their pets perform tricks, and there was plenty of fussing as the dogs did meet-and-greets with them.

Wellbeing Coach Hanne Johnstone said: “Our first dog talent show was a great success and we were thrilled that so many people brought their good girls and boys along to be a part of it. The day was just so much fun and it was wonderful to see the residents smiling and laughing, especially when the tricks were being performed. There’s no doubt that Kit and Honey’s meeting was very emotional and brought a tear to the eye.

It just goes to show the profound impact that lovely pets like Honey can have on people.”
